<image:title>Massage therapy - Trainings and teachers</image:title>
<image:caption>I was first inspired to train as a Thai Yoga Massage therapist when attending a workshop with Krishnatakis in 2013, who I consider one of my main teachers. Since then, I have trained with a number of other leading practitioners including David Lutt, Kira Balaskas, Pau Castellsague and Flora Bisogno. Through these trainings I have developed a deep understanding of both static and dynamic techniques. I have also trained in Lomi Lomi and Ayruvedic Yoga massage, oil-based massages, that integrate well with Thai Yoga Massage. See My Likes and Links for detail…</image:caption>

<image:title>Massage therapy - Thai Yoga Massage</image:title>
<image:caption>Thai Yoga Massage is said to have been developed in Northern India c2500 years ago. As Buddhism migrated to South-East Asia, the practice travelled to Thailand. It has its roots in yoga, Ayurveda and acupressure. The practice of Thai Yoga Massage is holistic, clothed, whole body treatment carried out on a futon on the floor rather than a massage table. The recipient is positioned in a variety of yoga positions coupled with deep static and dynamic pressure. The practice is a form of meditation in action. Each treatment relies on listening to the needs of the person receiving the massage and is unique for each person. The massage is performed with fluidity and rhythm, incorporating movement and stillness, a mindful connected flow of energy between giver and receiver.</image:caption>

<image:title>Yoga - Yoga, Breath, Qigong</image:title>
<image:caption>My yoga journey began in the early 2000s and since then has become a cornerstone to my physical well-being and self-discovery. I have explored many different styles and have trained with a number of great teachers, completing 600 hours of formal yoga teacher training, and numerous immersions and workshops. I took my first teacher training in Anusara yoga with Bridget Woods-Kramer, receiving a Yoga Alliance 200 hours yoga certification in May 2013. My second 200 hours training was with Manel Rodrigues, Hatha Precision & Flow in Lisbon, 2017. In January 2025 I completed a third third teacher training with Jean Hall and James Rafael - Daoist Flow - a mindful yoga movement practice taking inspiration from yoga asana, qigong and somatic movement. These teachers have been key influences on my own style of teaching, principally a Vinyasa Flow style of yoga - traditional yoga asana with movement in tune with the breath - incorporating movement patterns inspired from Qigong. See My likes and links for more detail on these teachers…</image:caption>

<image:title>Yoga - Asana and movement</image:title>
<image:caption>Moshe Feldenkrais, a pioneer in human development and movement practices, said ‘Movement is life - improve the quality of movement and you improve the quality of life itself.’ Yoga practices focussing on alignment and easeful movement help to facilitate balance and well-being in the body. Mindful movement is a fundamental tool that enables us to experience ourselves and our lives. The experience of ourselves and the cultivation of our mind-body awareness differentiates yoga from other forms of physical exercise. While yoga may help you to touch your toes, this is not its intention; the aim is for you to feel your journey towards it and understand where you are in life.</image:caption>
